Windows 7 USB Connection Set-up

The StarAid Revolution implements a standard USB Ethernet/RNDIS Gadget. Unfortunately Windows 7 does not automatically install the device driver for this. This page provides instructions to install the correct device driver.

Instructions

Step-by-step guide:

  1. Plug the StarAid USB cable into the PC.

  2. Start the Windows device manager by typing devmgmt.msc and press ↵ Enter.

  3. Browse to Other devices and right-click on RNDIS/Ethernet Gadget. Select Update driver software:

     

  4. Select Browse my computer for driver software:

     

  5. Select Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer:

     

  6. Scroll down and select Network adapters, then click Next:

     

  7. Scroll down the Manufacturers list on the left, and select Microsoft. Scroll down the Network Adapters list on the right and select Remote NDIS Compatible Device. Click Next:

     

  8. Click Yes if you get the following warning:

     

  9. Wait for the driver to finish installing:

     

  10. You can now access the StarAid Web App via http://169.254.54.1/. Note that the connection may take up to a minute to set-up the first time.
