Recommended guide scopes
StarAid will work with any guide scope that takes a 1¼“ ocular, or attaches with a C or CS-mount, provided that the focal length is in the 100 mm to 250 mm range. Optimal overall performance is achieved with guide scopes with a focal range in the 100 mm to 150 mm range. Because of the unique guide algorithm, StarAid does not require a large focal length for optimal guiding.
Things to consider when selecting a guide scope:
Some 1¼“ ocular guide scopes may provide insufficient back-focus, so you may have to purchase a 1¼“ tube extension to attach StarAid to the back.
C-mount guide scopes require a StarAid C-mount adaptor to attach to StarAid. You can purchase one from our website via this link.
C-mount guide scopes are easier to focus.
Some C-mount guide scopes do not include a mount, so you may want to purchase the StarAid Finder Shoe Adapter as an easy solution to attach your guide-setup to your telescope.
Should you prefer to not leave anything up to chance, the following guide scopes have been well tested with StarAid:
