Windows 10 USB Connection Set-up
The StarAid Revolution implements a standard USB Ethernet/RNDIS Gadget. Unfortunately Windows 10 tends to automatically install the wrong device driver for this. This page provides instructions for installing the correct device driver.
Pre-checks
Your Windows 10 device may already have the correct device driver installed. Follow these steps to determine if you can skip the instructions:
Unplug the StarAid USB cable.
Open the run command dialog by typing
⊞ Win
+R
:Start the Windows device manager by typing
devmgmt.msc
and press↵ Enter
:Scroll down to Network adapters.
Plug the StarAid USB cable into the PC and wait until a new device shows up in the Device Manager.
If a new USB Ethernet/RNDIS Gadget appears under Network adapters, you already have the correct device drivers installed:
You should be able to access the StarAid Web App via http://169.254.54.1/ in your browser. Note that the connection may take up to a minute to set-up the first time.
If however a new USB Serial Device appears under Ports (COM & LPT), you will need to proceed with the instructions to install the correct device driver.
